ABOUT GUELYLAND

"One of the smallest , independent kingdoms in the ciberuniverse. Nothing fancy. Population? Just me, myself and my jaguars, my movies and my books (and, at this very moment, YOU). Hided and secret like Skull Island or Opar, the ancients in Guelyland use to read the scrools of a minor god called Voor-Hes.
Most of the treasures of Guelyland are made of paper, plastic and vinyl.Guelyland dreams with expanding in deep more then in surface. The music of Nik Kershaw has been heard here. There are apes, lots of apes in Guelyland. Woody Allen and Bob Hope visit it quite often. Here we love books (the Kingdoms Library is both celebrated and secret) Here we are atheists but very tolerant and think of god a bit too often and much. Guelyland is, the stuff my dreams are made of..."

SUBMITTED TO YOUR APPROVAL: ROD SERLING'S

When i was around three years old my mother and i saw a chapter of the Twilight Zone ("Little girl lost", the one with the girl falling inside the wall in her room to another dimension). She told me that, after when i was sleeping (like at two or three o'clock in the morning) she went to check me, as usual, to cover me with a blanket i use to loose while sleeping and, to her horror, i was not in my bed, she couldn't find me nowhere in my room, nowhere else. Then she gave a look at my wall. Did her little son went to the Twilight Zone? Well...I was under my bed sleeping. I still remember watching that episode. I don't remember falling from my bed.
This year is the 50th anniversary of the Twilight Zone the series that run from 1959 to 1964 and in spanish was called "La Dimensión Desconocida". This year, as the many years before there are many reasons to remember Rod Serling (1924-1975) the great writer and creator of this anthology series. Personally, I am celebrating it by buying (after some years of delivery) The Twilight Zone: The complete Definitive Collection, a gargantuan 28 DVD's set (released October 3 , 2006).
Let's say just one thing about Serling. Okay? He wrote the script of Planet Of The Apes(1968) and i read the original Pierre Boulle novel so, i know how much my second favorite film of all time owns to the genius of Serling: A lot!
Star quality wise? Let's name a few of the actors that participate in the series, let me see...
William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Peter Falk, Lee Marvin, Robert Redford, Charles Bronson, Buster Keaton, Martin Landau, Elizabeth Montgomery, Micky Rooney, Donald Pleasence, Jack Klugman, Robert Duvall, Dana Andrews, Burgess Meredith and a long who's who etcetera of gold acting talent.
It was a brave series dealing during a very tuff period about racism, civil rights and war dressed with fantasy, the supernatural and science fiction. They were in their originally (and by far best form) 156 stories.
Spielberg, Frank Darabont, Night Shyamalan, Joe Dante, John Landis and the other best directors that deal with the fantastic own to this series almost too much and they are not shy to accept it. Even now, when i write this, Leonardo di Caprio is trying to make another movie based in this legendary series, tha many consider the best moment in american television.
Rod Serling made of writers of the fantastic cool brave guys when they were just nerdy characters.
The music of the show? Two names : Bernard Herrmann, Jerry Goldsmith. And i'll say no more.

My 13 year old daughter Diana is watching these days some chapters of the series and by her expression everytime a chapter finish i can say that people of all ages and times will be willing to be amazed and will jump to that fifth dimention that
we love to call: The Twilight Zone.

tu mencionada, La Hora Macabra
Amazing Stories
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
The Hitchhiker
Journey to the Unknown
Mystery!
The Outer Limits
Ray Bradbury Theatre
Tales from the Crypt
Tales from the Darkside

Great memories!

My wife asked me to tell you her favorite episode was the one in which Roddy McDowell ended up in the pictue of the grave yard.

My favorite was the episode in which Robert Redford played death.

Great show. The best ever on American TV!

The McDowell one, something to look forward! The Redford one, with the idea of death as something we should n't fear is quite unique. I can't decide about my own right now but i gonna think about a list of them, i think.

I didn't watch that as a kid, but vaguely remember something call (EXPECTACION! in spanish-never found out the name in english) and that was a series split in three stories per episode. Later on in my life I got to see an eposide starring Lorna Luft (Liza's sister) where a girl who was always crying was saving her tears in a little jar. Or maybe is not the same episode. I also love THE OUTER LIMITS, and ONE STEP BEYOND...

Pablo: sounds interesting that EXPECTACION one. I'm a fan of The Outer Of Limits as well even if there was a bit too much effort on showing mostly like some sort of "the monster of the week" kind of stuff. Remember a lot too Newland's "One Step Beyond" or "Un Paso Al Más Allá" as it was known in spanish. The excellent director Del Toro must has been a fan of this types of series for sure!

No sólo buscarla sinó encontrarla, Gigi!

I love this series. It was releashed when TV has something to offer.
