ABOUT GUELYLAND

"One of the smallest , independent kingdoms in the ciberuniverse. Nothing fancy. Population? Just me, myself and my jaguars, my movies and my books (and, at this very moment, YOU). Hided and secret like Skull Island or Opar, the ancients in Guelyland use to read the scrools of a minor god called Voor-Hes.
Most of the treasures of Guelyland are made of paper, plastic and vinyl.Guelyland dreams with expanding in deep more then in surface. The music of Nik Kershaw has been heard here. There are apes, lots of apes in Guelyland. Woody Allen and Bob Hope visit it quite often. Here we love books (the Kingdoms Library is both celebrated and secret) Here we are atheists but very tolerant and think of god a bit too often and much. Guelyland is, the stuff my dreams are made of..."

E-BOOKS? NOT FOR THIS GUELYLANDER!

Everywhere we read about the inminent dead of the paper book. And then are the electronic books like kindle or Sony's PRS that are selling a lot. Now, this is more serious then MP3 or blue-ray. We are talking about books! What can i say: This time is Personal!! I don't know, but you just don't burn books just like you don't throw away bread (or at least you shouldn't in front of your children). Books, bread are somehow sacred or at least there are the so called sacred books or sacred bread. You cannot imagine (not yet at least!) a sacred laptop or E-book. Hey! Even if i am as atheist as they come! The thing is that for reading a book you don't need batteries ok? And yes, maybe they gonna invent an E-book that works on solar cells someday but they are not talking about that at all yet. I read a lot on the internet but i buy books a lot as well. I even buy books that i know i won't read for a while or books i already have. Books for me are my favorite not living thing. And, now i'm being very egoist here but, i just hope they got cheaper with all this revolution so i can get more of them. It's not just about the information is about the object itself that has a history and almost a "life" on it own. And i had more then a thousand of videotapes that later became DVD's (even if i don't think they will be Blue-Ray discs for me). I have vinyl, cassets, CDs and MP3 but that is different. I like books, among many reasons, because they are not machines or they don't need one to be enjoyed. Books are like people that can be wise or stupid, rich or poor, big or small, shallow or deep, popular or aristocratic, a luxury or a necesity and everything in between. The only thing a book needs it's a reader and they can always wait one even for hundreds and hundreds of years. Call me old fashion but I wouldn't feel what i can feel for a book (a book i love) for an E-book the same that i wouldn't feel for a tamagoshi compared with a real pet. We live in practical times, I know, and some people even replace the real thing with pornography. And to me the books are like the real thing. I can love them. At least I do.

Wasn't he one of the first to sale one of his many, many (and i mean many) books in electronic format only some years ago?. Well King is the kind of man (like Michael Caine)that can create art and crap with the same hand. By the way later today I gonna check your blog, pal, I'm always looking for those quotations that you have the keen eye and taste to detect!Maybe I'm not fun of sports but time travelling is my kind of fun! 7 in the morning Stockholm time. Have a nice one!
