ABOUT GUELYLAND
"One of the smallest , independent kingdoms in the ciberuniverse. Nothing fancy. Population? Just me, myself and my jaguars, my movies and my books (and, at this very moment, YOU). Hided and secret like Skull Island or Opar, the ancients in Guelyland use to read the scrools of a minor god called Voor-Hes.
Most of the treasures of Guelyland are made of paper, plastic and vinyl.Guelyland dreams with expanding in deep more then in surface. The music of Nik Kershaw has been heard here. There are apes, lots of apes in Guelyland. Woody Allen and Bob Hope visit it quite often. Here we love books (the Kingdoms Library is both celebrated and secret) Here we are atheists but very tolerant and think of god a bit too often and much. Guelyland is, the stuff my dreams are made of..."

ANITA!... YOU'RE EVERYTHING! YOU KNOW YOU'RE EVERYTHING? YOU'RE EVERYTHING,EVERYTHING. YOU'RE THE FIRST WOMAN OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE CREATION
Okay, this is kind of a quote from my favorite movie of all time, La Dolce Vita (F.F. 1960) The ultimate inteligent, poetic and beautiful italian masterpiece. But this is not about it. This is just plain and simple about the beauty of Anita Ekberg. For me, The Face of Sweden (sorry Greta, sorry Ingrid) And i won't write down any excuse for showing the pics of her that i consider the most beautiful. She hasn't die, is not her birthday, is not making a comeback. No. I just want to see her beauty in Guelyland and share it with all of you my friends. And i know, too many folks says yeeeah now she is old and fat. Gee! Unless you die young, we all get old. And with all the beauty she had before and we can see in pictures and movies why should we complain that she does what she wants with her food. Anita...

"You're everything! You know that you're everything? You're everything. Everything! You're the first woman of the first day of the creation. You're the mother, the sister, the lover, the friend, the angel, the devil, the earth, the home. The home! That's what you are: the home.(Marcello Mastroianni to Sylvia, Anita's character in La Dolce Vita).
BE MY FRIEND...GODFATHER.

I was seven that one night when my father came home and told me "Chaplin is not the best actor in the world, as you say". It was the night he saw The Godfather. To understand that misterious piece of information took me years. Here is the opening scene. When i saw it i saw the light (Rembrandt style!)
Bonasera: I believe in America. America has made my fortune. And I raised my daughter in the American fashion. I gave her freedom, but I taught her never to dishonor her family. She found a boyfriend; not an Italian. She went to the movies with him; she stayed out late. I didn't protest. Two months ago, he took her for a drive, with another boyfriend. They made her drink whiskey. And then they tried to take advantage of her. She resisted. She kept her honor. So they beat her, like an animal. When I went to the hospital, her nose was a'broken. Her jaw was a'shattered, held together by wire. She couldn't even weep because of the pain. But I wept. Why did I weep? She was the light of my life beautiful girl. Now she will never be beautiful again. I went to the police, like a good American. These two boys were brought to trial. The judge sentenced them to three years in prison - suspended sentence. Suspended sentence! They went free that very day! I stood in the courtroom like a fool. And those two bastards, they smiled at me. Then I said to my wife, for justice, we must go to Don Corleone.
Don Corleone: Why did you go to the police? Why didn't you come to me first?
Don Corleone: That I cannot do.

Don Corleone: Bonasera. Bonasera. What have I ever done to make you to treat me so disrespectfully. If you had come to me in friendship then this scum that ruined your daughter would be suffering this very day. And if by chance an honest man like yourself should make enemies then they would become my enemies. And then, they would fear you.
Bonasera: Be my friend... Godfather. [kisses Don Corleone's ring]
Don Corleone: Good. Someday, and that day may never come, I'll call upon you to do a service for me. But, until that day, accept this justice as a gift on my daughter's wedding day.

Don Corleone: What is that? [Bonasera gets up and whispers in the Don's ear]
Don Corleone: That I cannot do.Bonasera: I'll give you anything you ask.
Don Corleone: We've known each other for many years but this is the first time you've ever come to me for counsel or for help. I can't remember the last time you invited me to your house for a cup of coffee, even though my wife is Godmother to your only child. But, let's be frank here. You never wanted my friendship and you were afraid to be in my debt.Bonasera: I didn't want to get into trouble.

Don Corleone: I understand. You found paradise in America. You had a good trade, made a good living, the police protected you and there were courts of law and you didn't need a friend like me. But, now you come to me and you say "Don Corleone, give me justice." But you don't ask with respect. You don't offer friendship. You don't even think to call me Godfather. Instead, you come into my home on the day my daughter's to be married and you ask me to do murder for money.
Bonasera: I ask you for justice.

Don Corleone: That is not justice your daughter is still alive.
Bonasera: Let them suffer then. As she suffers. How much shall I pay you?
Don Corleone: Bonasera. Bonasera. What have I ever done to make you to treat me so disrespectfully. Don Corleone: Bene. [Bonasera exits]

Don Corleone: [to Tom] Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks.

E-BOOKS? NOT FOR THIS GUELYLANDER!
Everywhere we read about the inminent dead of the paper book. And then are the electronic books like kindle or Sony's PRS that are selling a lot. Now, this is more serious then MP3 or blue-ray. We are talking about books! What can i say: This time is Personal!! I don't know, but you just don't burn books just like you don't throw away bread (or at least you shouldn't in front of your children). Books, bread are somehow sacred or at least there are the so called sacred books or sacred bread. You cannot imagine (not yet at least!) a sacred laptop or E-book. Hey! Even if i am as atheist as they come! The thing is that for reading a book you don't need batteries ok? And yes, maybe they gonna invent an E-book that works on solar cells someday but they are not talking about that at all yet. I read a lot on the internet but i buy books a lot as well. I even buy books that i know i won't read for a while or books i already have. Books for me are my favorite not living thing. And, now i'm being very egoist here but, i just hope they got cheaper with all this revolution so i can get more of them. It's not just about the information is about the object itself that has a history and almost a "life" on it own. And i had more then a thousand of videotapes that later became DVD's (even if i don't think they will be Blue-Ray discs for me). I have vinyl, cassets, CDs and MP3 but that is different. I like books, among many reasons, because they are not machines or they don't need one to be enjoyed. Books are like people that can be wise or stupid, rich or poor, big or small, shallow or deep, popular or aristocratic, a luxury or a necesity and everything in between. The only thing a book needs it's a reader and they can always wait one even for hundreds and hundreds of years. Call me old fashion but I wouldn't feel what i can feel for a book (a book i love) for an E-book the same that i wouldn't feel for a tamagoshi compared with a real pet. We live in practical times, I know, and some people even replace the real thing with pornography. And to me the books are like the real thing. I can love them. At least I do.(The painting by Carl Spitzweg is The Bookworm, from 1850)
